LEARN ABOUT COLOUR FROM FAMOUS ARTISTS
WHEN YOU LEARN LEARN FROM THE BEST
Learn colour from famous artists. On the right hand side of this page is a good list of different famous artists for you to enjoy looking at. They are artists whose work I have found inspiring and helpful to study. There are many different styles as we all have a completely different taste in art and it would be sad if we all liked the same things. It would also be impossible that we would all like the same art, which is why we must not worry if people don’t like our own art.
LOTS OF ART IN THE COLOUR MIXING TUTORIALS COURSE
I have included a lot of great works of art within the Colour Mixing Tutorials course in order to illustrate practical points. We look at the range of colours artists use in the skies of their landscape paintings. Also how colour use can create depth and distance and shape and form. However, there were many artists that I love that I could not include for copyright reasons and so I have named them here. This way you can research them yourself. Enjoy!
The Resources, information, website and books in this Resource Hub section are here to start you off.
WHERE TO LOOK RATHER THAN RELYING ON SEARCH ENGINES
If you have not researched art and artists before you may just use a popular search engine. The search engine algorithm can produce strange results that might not show you the best quality art. This is really important to know whatever stage you are at in your art.
LEARN COLOUR FROM FAMOUS ARTISTS
EVEN IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER, LEARN FROM THE VERY BEST. You want to learn from the best, even if you are a complete beginner. Otherwise, you are simply learning poor quality information, rather than simple information. Don’t worry if you feel the art is beyond your standard. That will always be the case for all of us. Just try to learn one simple thing from what you are looking at. I have found that as time progresses, I see more in each painting. When I look at paintings, I understand something new each time. Each time I see artwork one new thing might register. I learn one new thing about how the artist has worked. Just aim to learn one simple thing.
THE NEW ENGLISH ART CLUB
THE NEW ENGLISH ART CLUB is an elected society of contemporary painters. Their ethos resides in art informed by the visual world and personal interpretation.
Their Annual Exhibition is a showcase not only for its members but also for aspiring artists. It has a history going back more than a hundred years. It is an opportunity for work to be seen alongside some of the best artists painting today. Their exhibition is held at Mall Galleries in London.
The NEAC offer support and encouragement to emerging artists. Their Education Programme has classes & workshops run by New English members. They award two Scholarships each year.
Historically, the New English Art Club was founded by a group of artists dissatisfied with the Royal Academy. They mounted their first show in 1886 including paintings by Clausen, Sickert and Stanhope Forbes. The club increasingly attracted younger artists. They brought with them the influence of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Many diverse styles of art have developed since its founding. These add richness and variety.
The New English Art Club is a registered charity. It relies on the generosity of its benefactors to further its aims.
The NEAC You Tube Channel is full of wonderful films on art and artists.
Some examples are below and to the right. When you watch artists at work it is always interesting to see how they hold their brushes and apply the paint.

EXHIBITION ON SCREEN EOS
EOS make films on a wide range of artists and exhibitions. They are really good if you cannot get to an exhibition and if you are interested to know about certain artists. The films show in some cinemas with a Q and A or you can buy them to watch at home. Sometimes they are shown on mainstream TV.
